About This Trail

Swamp Dog is a 1.42-km dog-friendly cross-country ski trail within the Morice Mountain Nordic Ski Club Trail Network. Located in the Pooch Paradise area, this easy, gently rolling route winds through forest and open meadow sections, offering a relaxing skiing experience for visitors and their four-legged companions. It is part of the club's designated dog-friendly trail system.

Getting There

Directions

From Houston, travel south on Buck Flats Road for approximately 8 km to the Morice Mountain Nordic Ski Club recreation area. Park in the designated parking lot. Access the dog-friendly trail network via Trespass, using the signed route from the south side of the parking lot near the woodshed and day lodge. Follow the trail signs toward Swamp Dog.

Parking

Parking is available at the designated Morice Mountain Nordic Ski Club parking area near the day lodge. Dogs are permitted in the parking lot, but not inside the day lodge or staging area. Keep access roads clear and clean up after your dog.

Safety & Preparation

  • Dogs must remain under control; use a leash if they cannot be reliably controlled.
  • A maximum of two dogs per skier is permitted.
  • Pick up and properly dispose of dog waste.
  • Do not allow dogs to disturb wildlife.
  • Be aware of potential wildlife encounters and risks to your dog.
  • Check grooming reports and snow conditions before visiting.
  • All ski trails are two-way; yield to downhill traffic.
  • Wait a few hours after fresh grooming so the snow has time to set before skiing with your dog.
