About This Trail

Hatchet Boy is a mountain-bike trail in the Terrace Mountain network. It forms part of the riding connection between Down Tube and T2, providing a technical forested section within the network. It is commonly ridden as part of the Down Tube and T2 route.

Getting There

Directions

Access Hatchet Boy through the Terrace Mountain trail network from the Flathead/Down Tube area. Follow the mapped route to the Down Tube–Hatchet Boy junction and continue along Hatchet Boy toward T2.

Parking

Parking is available at established Terrace Mountain access areas, including the Flathead area. Use designated parking areas and keep access roads and trail entrances clear.

Safety & Preparation

  • Expect roots, rocks, uneven terrain, and technical forest sections.
  • Hatchet Boy connects with other mountain-bike trails, so watch for riders approaching from either direction.
  • Wet conditions can make natural surfaces slippery.
  • Be alert for fallen trees, loose material, and other changing trail conditions.
  • Stay on the designated trail and follow signs at junctions.
  • Wear a helmet and appropriate protective equipment.
