About This Trail

Clearwater Extension is a forested trail in the Onion Lake trail network near Terrace. It is primarily used for Nordic skiing during winter, with the groomed route supporting both classic and skate skiing. The trail also forms part of the area's hiking and trail-running network during snow-free seasons.

Getting There

Directions

Access Clearwater Extension from the established Onion Lake trail system. Follow the mapped network toward the Clearwater Extension junction and remain on the designated route.

Parking

Parking is available at the established Onion Lake Cross Country Ski Trails access area. Use designated parking spaces and keep access roads and trail entrances clear.

Safety & Preparation

  • Winter use includes groomed Nordic ski tracks; watch for skiers and grooming operations.
  • Expect forested terrain with uneven surfaces, roots, and potentially muddy sections during snow-free conditions.
  • Wet weather and snowmelt can make sections soft or slippery.
  • Watch for wildlife, including moose, in the surrounding forest and wetland areas.
