About This Trail

View Point Trail is a moderate hiking trail in the Terrace Mountain network near Terrace. The well-defined singletrack climbs through forested terrain to a scenic mid-point lookout overlooking the surrounding Terrace area and mountains. The trail is primarily for hiking and trail running, with only the section between Griff's Line and Backeddy suitable for mountain bikes.

Getting There

Directions

Access Terrace Mountain through the Flathead trail area. Follow the established trail network toward View Point Trail and use the current trail map to identify the correct junction and approach.

Parking

Parking is available near the Flathead trail access. Use established parking areas and do not block residential roads, gates, or other access routes.

Safety & Preparation

  • Moderate hiking trail with some steep sections.
  • The trail can become slippery, muddy, icy, or snowy depending on conditions.
  • Most of the trail is not suitable for mountain bikes; respect the designated riding section.
  • Watch for hikers, trail runners, and cyclists on shared sections.
  • Carry an offline map and appropriate footwear.
  • A large danger tree has previously been reported near the Johnstone trailhead; check current trail conditions before setting out.
  • Be alert for wildlife, including bears.
