About This Trail

Upper Backeddy is a technical downhill mountain bike trail in the Terrace Mountain trail network near Terrace. The trail features loose rocky sections, off-camber roots, and multiple optional rock drops, with technical downhill and all-mountain riding through forested terrain.

Getting There

Directions

Access Terrace Mountain through the established trail network and follow the current trail map toward the Backeddy trails. Upper Backeddy is accessed from the Flathead-area trail network and connects with nearby routes including Lower Backeddy.

Parking

Use established parking areas serving the Terrace Mountain network, including the Flathead parking area. Do not block residential roads, gates, or other access routes.

Safety & Preparation

  • Black Diamond downhill-primary trail recommended for experienced riders.
  • Expect loose rocks, off-camber roots, steep sections, and technical terrain.
  • Optional rock drops are present; inspect features before riding.
  • A bridge and technical features are present along the trail.
  • Wet conditions can make roots and rocks slippery.
  • Use appropriate mountain-bike protective equipment.
  • Watch for hikers, cyclists, and other trail users on connecting routes.
  • Check current trail conditions before riding, as conditions can change after weather or trail work.
  • Carry an offline map, repair equipment, water, and emergency supplies.
  • Be alert for wildlife, including bears.
