About This Trail

A remote backcountry route following the Gablon River toward Lower Lake in the Hartley Bay area. The route passes through forested coastal terrain and provides access to the surrounding watershed. Due to its remote location, this route should be treated as a wilderness access trail rather than a developed recreation trail.

Getting There

Directions

From Hartley Bay, follow the local access route toward the Gablon River and Lower Lake area. Exact access points should be confirmed with current local mapping and the Gitga’at First Nation before travelling, as access roads and routes in the area may be restricted or subject to change.

Parking

Parking is limited. Use only designated or locally approved parking areas and do not obstruct access roads, forestry routes, or local infrastructure.

Safety & Preparation

This is a remote route with limited services and potentially limited cell coverage. Expect uneven, wet, muddy, and overgrown terrain. River crossings and water levels can change rapidly, particularly after heavy rainfall. Carry an offline map, emergency supplies, and bear-safety equipment. Respect Gitga’at lands, posted restrictions, private or restricted areas, and any active forestry or infrastructure work.
