Getting There

Directions

From Terrace, travel west on Highway 16 and turn north onto the West Kalum Forest Service Road near the Kalum River. Follow the forest service road toward Red Sand Lake and Hart Farm Recreation Sites. The route can be accessed from either recreation area; use the current trail map to confirm the preferred starting point.

Parking

Parking is available at the Red Sand Lake and Hart Farm recreation areas. Use designated parking areas and avoid blocking access roads, campsites, or forestry traffic.

Safety & Preparation

The West Kalum Forest Service Road can have potholes, washouts, and rough sections, particularly after heavy rain. Active forestry traffic may be present. Some trail sections may be less clearly marked around the Hart Farm side. Conditions can become muddy or slippery, and cell service may be limited. Be prepared for changing weather and wildlife encounters, including bears.
