Getting There

Directions

From Terrace, travel west on Highway 16 toward Prince Rupert and follow the signed access road to Shames Mountain Ski Area. Continue to the main base area and lodge. Python is accessed from the ski-area lift and trail network rather than from a separate hiking trailhead. Shames Mountain is approximately 35 km west of Terrace.

Parking

Parking is available at the main Shames Mountain base area near the lodge. Use designated parking areas and follow any seasonal directions provided by ski-area staff.

Safety & Preparation

Although Python is beginner terrain, winter conditions can change quickly with snow, ice, wind and reduced visibility. Stay on designated open runs, obey posted signs and closures, and maintain control around other skiers and snowboarders. Do not enter closed or unpatrolled areas. Uphill users must follow Shames Mountain's current uphill-access policy and use designated routes and required passes.
