Safety & Preparation

  • West Kalum Forest Service Road is a gravel road shared with logging and other industrial traffic; drive cautiously.
  • Expect potholes, dust, mud, and changing road conditions.
  • Watch for wildlife, including bears, moose, and other animals.
  • Bring your own drinking water and appropriate supplies.
  • Be cautious near the lake shoreline; there are no lifeguards.
  • Cell service may be limited, so an offline map is recommended.
  • Follow posted recreation-site rules and respect the surrounding environment.
