About This Trail

Kitselas - Steinhoe - Lichen Loop is a moderately challenging trail and mountain-bike route in the Terrace Mountain area. The route connects the Steinhoe (Kitselas) trail with Lichen Loop, passing through lush, mossy forest with rooty and rocky singletrack, climbs, and technical sections.

Getting There

Directions

Access the route from the Kitselas Road / Spring Creek–Steinhoe trail area north of Terrace. The Spring Creek pump house area provides access to the Spring Creek/Steinhoe trailhead, which connects toward Lichen Loop and the Kitselas section. Follow the current trail map and signs at junctions. 

Parking

Parking is available at established access areas near the Spring Creek pump house / Steinhoe trailhead. Park without blocking the pump house, access roads, or nearby private property.

Safety & Preparation

  • The route is rated Moderate and includes rocky, root-covered, and technical sections.
  • The trail network is primarily used for mountain biking but is multi-use, so watch for hikers and other riders.
  • Some climbs contain steep or technical sections; ride or hike within your ability.
  • Wet weather can make roots, rocks, and soil slippery.
  • Carry an offline map or GPS because the area contains multiple interconnected trails.
  • Watch for bears and other wildlife.
