About This Trail

Williams Creek Trail is a scenic forest route near Terrace, British Columbia, following the Williams Creek area through lush coastal forest. The trail offers a peaceful setting for hiking, walking, running, birdwatching, and horseback riding, with forest and river scenery along the route. It is generally considered a moderately challenging trail.

Getting There

Directions

From Terrace, travel south toward the Lakelse Lake area. Follow Old Lakelse Lake Drive toward Williams Creek and continue to the trail access near Williams Creek Avenue. The Williams Creek Trail is shown on BC forestry mapping in the area near the protected Williams Creek corridor. 

Parking

Parking is available near the Williams Creek access area. Gruchy's Beach parking area can also provide access to nearby Williams Creek attractions, including the salmon viewing area. Park only in appropriate designated areas and do not obstruct local roads or access routes.

Safety & Preparation

  • Expect uneven, muddy, and wet sections, particularly after rainfall.
  • Some areas may have fallen trees or other natural obstacles.
  • Bears and other wildlife may be present; keep food and garbage securely stored and maintain a safe distance from wildlife.
  • Be cautious around Williams Creek and other waterways.
  • Bring suitable footwear, water, and offline navigation.
  • The trail may have limited cell service in some sections.
  • Watch for other trail users, including hikers, runners, and horseback riders.
