Babine Lake is extremely large, and strong winds can quickly create rough water and high waves. Check the marine weather forecast before launching and remain close to shore when conditions are uncertain. Carry an approved personal flotation device, navigation equipment, emergency supplies and reliable communication equipment.
Cold water presents a risk throughout the year. Boaters should also watch for floating debris, shallow areas and submerged hazards. Wildlife, including bears, may be encountered around remote shorelines and spawning channels.
A valid BC freshwater fishing licence is required. Salmon openings and limits may change during the season, so anglers must check both the current Region 6 freshwater regulations and applicable DFO salmon notices before fishing.
