About This Trail

Pine Creek Trail is a scenic forest trail near Kitamaat Village, surrounded by towering cedar trees, lush coastal rainforest, and the peaceful sounds of Pine Creek. The trail follows the creek through a beautiful natural setting where visitors may spot small fish, spawning salmon, and signs of beaver activity. It offers a relaxing opportunity to experience the area's rich coastal forest and wildlife.

Getting There

Directions

From Kitimat, follow Kitamaat Village Road for approximately 2 km. Turn right at the Minette Bay Lodge sign and continue about 0.5 km. The Upper Loop begins on the right shortly before the bridge. The Lower Loop starts just beyond the bridge. 

Parking

Parking is available across the bridge on the left, with access to the Lower Loop just beyond the parking area. The trail area has limited parking, so park carefully and avoid obstructing the road or bridge access.

Safety & Preparation

  • Expect wet, muddy, and slippery conditions, particularly after rain.
  • Watch for roots, fallen branches, and uneven ground.
  • The creek can become deeper or faster following heavy rainfall.
  • Salmon and other wildlife may be present around the creek.
  • Bears may occur in the surrounding forest; practice bear awareness and carry bear spray where appropriate.
  • The Lower Loop passes through private property, so stay on the designated trail and respect property boundaries.
  • Dogs must be kept on leash on the Lower Loop because of the private-property section.
  • Cell service may be limited in parts of the area.
  • There are no garbage facilities along the trails, so pack out everything you bring in.
