About This Trail

Beaupré Falls, known as Ts’itksim Aks in Nisg̱a’a, is a scenic waterfall located within Anhluut’ukwsim Lax̱mihl Angwinga’asanskwhl Nisg̱a’a Park (Nisg̱a’a Memorial Lava Bed Park) in the Nass Valley of northwestern British Columbia. It is one of several short interpretive stops along the park’s self-guided auto tour.

The falls are reached by a short walk through the forest and provide a beautiful view of cascading water surrounded by the lush landscape of the Nass Valley. The walk to the falls is approximately 1 km return, making this an easy and worthwhile stop for visitors exploring the volcanic and cultural attractions of Nisg̱a’a Lands.

Getting There

Directions

From Terrace, British Columbia, travel north on Highway 113 (Nisg̱a’a Highway) toward the Nass Valley. Continue through the valley toward Gitlaxt’aamiks (New Aiyansh) and follow the signed Nisg̱a’a Memorial Lava Bed Park auto-tour route.

Beaupré Falls is located along the highway within the park, near the Ksi Sii Aks area and approximately 5 km southeast of Gitlaxt’aamiks. Follow the signed Beaupré Falls access and turn into the designated roadside parking area. From there, follow the short forest trail to the waterfall viewpoint.

The Nisg̱a’a Auto Tour is self-guided and can be driven in either order, making Beaupré Falls easy to combine with nearby attractions such as the Drowned Forest, Vetter Falls, Tree Mould Trail, and other volcanic features.

Parking

A designated parking area and roadside pullout are available near Beaupré Falls. Parking is located close to the beginning of the short walking trail, making the falls accessible without a long hike.

Park only in the designated area and avoid stopping on the active highway. Keep access roads and entrances clear for other visitors and emergency vehicles. Parking facilities are relatively basic, so visitors should not expect extensive services at the trailhead.

Safety & Preparation

  • Slippery trail: The forest trail can become wet and slippery, particularly after rain. Wear footwear with good traction.
  • Waterfall safety: Stay on the established trail and viewing areas. Do not approach the edge of the falls or attempt to climb around the waterfall.
  • Fast-moving water: Rocks around streams and waterfalls can be unstable and extremely slippery. Never enter the water near the falls.
  • Volcanic terrain: The surrounding park contains lava rock that can be sharp, unstable, and thin, particularly around stream and water edges.
  • Stay on designated trails: Avoid shortcutting or creating new paths, as this can damage the vegetation and fragile volcanic landscape.
  • Wildlife: Bears, moose, mountain goats, marmots, and other wildlife inhabit the park. Keep a safe distance and never feed wildlife.
  • Road awareness: Use caution when entering or leaving the parking area because Highway 113 is the main route through the Nass Valley.
  • Weather: Conditions can change quickly. Bring suitable footwear, clothing, water, and rain protection.
  • Limited services: This is a remote area, so bring necessary supplies with you and do not rely on nearby services.
  • Respect Nisg̱a’a Lands: Beaupré Falls is located within the traditional lands of the Nisg̱a’a Nation. Follow posted signs, respect closures and local protocols, and leave the area undisturbed.
  • Leave no trace: Take all garbage with you and do not remove rocks, plants, or other natural features.
