Getting There

Directions

Wantage Falls is accessed from Wantage Road in the Mount Hays area of Prince Rupert. The route follows Wantage Road uphill before entering the forest on a short trail leading to the waterfall. AllTrails describes the route as approximately 3.3 miles (5.3 km) with about 1 hour 49 minutes of hiking time and moderate difficulty.

A 4×4 vehicle can reportedly drive farther up Wantage Road, reducing the walking portion to roughly 200 m through the forest to the falls.

Parking

Parking is limited along Wantage Road. If parking roadside, choose a safe location that does not obstruct traffic, driveways, or access to nearby properties and facilities. Avoid driving farther up the road unless your vehicle is suitable for the rough conditions; the upper section is reported to require a 4×4 vehicle.

Safety & Preparation

The trail is rated Moderate and includes approximately 836 ft (255 m) of elevation gain.

Expect a steady uphill walk along Wantage Road before reaching the forest section.

The final approach to the waterfall can be overgrown and difficult to follow, so GPS navigation is recommended.

The area receives substantial rainfall, so expect muddy, wet, and slippery conditions, particularly after rain.

Wear sturdy footwear with good traction and bring rain gear.

Use caution around the waterfall, wet rocks, steep slopes, and stream areas.

Be alert for wildlife and avoid approaching or feeding animals.
