Getting There

Directions

The Wantage Lookout Loop is located in the Mount Hays/Wantage Road area of Prince Rupert. Follow local roads toward Wantage Road and the Mount Hays trail area. GPS navigation is recommended, as access involves local roads and trail connections rather than a clearly marked formal trailhead. 

Parking

Parking is limited around the Wantage Road trail-access area. Park only where it is safe and permitted, keeping roads, driveways, and access routes clear. There may not be a dedicated parking lot immediately at the trail entrance, so hikers should be prepared to park along an appropriate roadside area and walk to the trail access.

Safety & Preparation

The loop is rated Hard, so hikers should be prepared for sustained elevation gain and challenging terrain.

Expect steep sections, uneven ground, exposed roots, mud, and slippery surfaces, particularly during wet weather.

The Prince Rupert area receives considerable rainfall, so trail conditions can become very muddy and wet.
