About This Trail

Ore Mountain Trail is a moderate to difficult 4 km (2.5 mile) trail that climbs steeply up along the east side of the Bear River, then climbs into the valley. After 3 km (2 miles), the trail breaks out of heavy timber and reaches a viewpoint overlooking the valley. From this point, the trail continues for another 1 km (0.6 miles) through sub-alpine terrain to a small alpine lake.

Leave No Trace

Please follow Leave No Trace principles: pack out all waste, stay on designated trails, respect wildlife, and be considerate of other visitors.

Getting There

Directions

Drive north from Stewart along Highway 37A for approximately 13 km (8 miles). After crossing the Bitter Creek bridge, take the first right. Turn left after the first junction and follow the road, keeping to the right for another 1 km (0.6 miles).

Parking

From the Clements Lake Recreation Site, follow the old road for about 300 m (330 yards) to the trailhead.

Safety & Preparation

Rated moderate to difficult — steep climb along the initial section.

Sub-alpine terrain near the lake can hold snow/ice later into the season; check conditions before heading up.

General regional bear safety applies: hike in a group, make loud noise, carry bear spray, avoid surprising bears, keep dogs leashed.

No cell service should be assumed on the trail; let someone know your route and expected return time.
