About This Trail

Drop City is the newest black diamond on Mount Harry Davis, opened in 2025 and already making a name for itself as one of the most committing lines on the mountain. At 776 m with 109 m of descent and an average grade of 14%, it's not the longest trail on the hill — but what it lacks in length it makes up for in consequence. The trail is rated High Exposure on Trailforks, a designation reserved for terrain where a fall carries real risk. Rock slabs, steep decline, loose rock, and a max pitch touching 89% are the calling cards here. Drop City is singletrack built for riders who know exactly what they're doing on a DH or enduro bike and are looking for terrain that demands full commitment from the first metre to the last. It's fresh, raw, and uncompromising — exactly the kind of trail that puts Houston on the map for serious riders.

Leave No Trace

Getting There

Directions

From Houston, BC, head south on Butler Avenue and turn onto Harry Davis Way toward Mount Harry Davis. Follow the gravel forest service road up to the mid-upper mountain network. Drop City begins at approximately 1,015 m (3,330 ft) elevation — access is via shuttle or by climbing a designated uphill route. The trail is signed within the network; follow trail markers from the upper junction. As a newer trail (2025), confirm the current access route on Trailforks before heading up.

Parking

Park at the main Mount Harry Davis trailhead lot off Harry Davis Way. A shuttle up the FSR is strongly recommended — Drop City sits well up the mountain and a pedal approach adds significant climbing. The trail deposits riders near the 906 m (2,973 ft) mark, within range of the lower network. Both lots are unpaved gravel with no current parking fees. Space fills quickly on summer weekends.

Safety & Preparation

High Exposure rating — serious injury risk. Drop City carries an official High Risk exposure rating on Trailforks. This is not a trail to session casually or ride beyond your limits. Falls on this terrain have real consequences.

Max grade of 89%. Select sections are near-vertical. This requires advanced body positioning, total confidence in your braking, and a bike fully capable of handling the terrain.

Rock slabs, loose rock, and steep decline throughout. The trail surface is natural and ungroomed. Conditions change with weather — wet rock slabs in particular are extremely dangerous.

Downhill only. Do not attempt to ride or walk uphill on this trail. Use designated climbing routes to access the top.

No lighting. Do not ride after dark.

Full protective gear mandatory. Full-face helmet, neck brace, knee and shin guards, elbow pads, and body armour are strongly recommended given the trail's exposure rating.

Cell coverage is limited or absent at this elevation. Ride with a partner and have an emergency plan.

Wildlife: Bear country. Make noise on approach and through blind sections.

Trail stewardship: Maintained by the Houston Mountain Bike Association. As a new trail, your condition reports on Trailforks are especially valuable to the community.
