About This Trail
The Hunter Basin Trail is a rugged and rewarding alpine hike located south of Telkwa, offering sweeping views of the Telkwa Range and the Bulkley Valley. The trail begins along an old mining road before climbing steadily through lush forest and into open alpine meadows dotted with wildflowers and streams. Once in the basin, you’ll find stunning views of surrounding peaks and the remnants of historic mining activity.
Because the area is part of a caribou recovery zone, access is generally open from mid-July to late September, and dogs or motorized vehicles are not permitted. The route can be overgrown and faint in places, but it’s well worth the effort for those seeking solitude and dramatic mountain scenery.
