It’s perfect for a quick evening adventure or sunrise mission β€” especially in late summer when the light over the valley is golden. . Distance: ~3.5 km round trip . Elevation Gain: ~250 m . Getting There

. From downtown Smithers, head west on Highway 16. . Turn left onto Old Babine Lake Road and continue for about 5 km. . Turn right onto McCabe Road, then follow it uphill for about 3 km. . Watch for a small pullout and sign marking the Malkow Lookout Trailhead on your left.

You’ll pass through livestock gates β€” leave all gates as you found them (close them securely after passing). . Cattle and dogs may be present along the route. If hiking with pets, keep dogs leashed and under control at all times. . Avoid disturbing animals and give them plenty of space.
