About This Trail

Full Boar is a black diamond mountain bike descent from the summit of Boer Mountain to the Kager Lake area — one of the most challenging descents in the Boer Mountain Recreation Site network. Rated black diamond for experienced and advanced riders, the trail drops significant elevation from the top of Boer Mountain with technical features and demanding terrain. Accessible after climbing the 18km Razorback trail to the summit, Full Boar is one of several descent options from the top — alongside Pigasus, Shawn's Flow, Charlotte's Web, and When Pigs Fly. All descents ultimately converge near the spectacular Pierce Hofer Memorial — a 2,000+ square foot wall ride adjacent to the Kager Lake parking lot, built in memory of Pierce Hofer, a young man tragically lost in a motor vehicle accident. Part of a network designed by Whistler Gravity Logic, Jay Hoots, and IMBA Canada. Located on the traditional territory of the Lake Babine Nation and Ts'il Kaz Koh.

Getting There

Directions

From Highway 16 in Burns Lake, take 5th Avenue north to Gowan Road, turn left onto Boer Mountain Road and follow to the Kager Lake Recreation Site parking area (10–15 minutes from town). The upper start of Full Boar is accessed via the Razorback uptrack to the summit of Boer Mountain. The Firecrew Trail starting area near the summit can also be reached via the upper Boer Mountain Road (seasonal road access — check rideburns.ca for current road status). Trail map at rideburns.ca or trailforks.com/region/boer-mountain-and-kager-lake.

Parking

Free parking at the Kager Lake Recreation Site, 10–15 minutes from Burns Lake on Boer Mountain Road. A 14-unit campground, walk-in campsites, boat launch, fire pits, outhouses, and a skills park are on site. A second upper parking area near the Boer Mountain summit provides seasonal access to upper trails — check rideburns.ca for seasonal road opening.

Safety & Preparation

Full Boar is rated black diamond — only advanced and experienced riders with strong technical skills should attempt this descent. A full-face helmet and body armour are strongly recommended. Check trailforks.com for current trail status as some Boer Mountain trails remain closed for post-wildfire danger tree assessments. Do not ride in wet conditions — the trail becomes slippery and causes damage. Bears are present in the Boer Mountain area — carry bear spray. Always ride with others and let someone know your plans. Visit rideburns.ca for current conditions and seasonal updates.
