About This Trail

Palisades Lookout is a moderate 1.8-mile (2.9km) out-and-back trail southeast of Houston leading to a dramatic viewpoint above the Houston Palisades — a set of striking cliff faces visible from town. The short but steep trail climbs quickly to the lookout with outstanding views of the Bulkley Valley, Morice Mountain, and the surrounding Houston area. A popular local favourite offering big views for relatively short effort. The Houston Palisades themselves are also a local rock climbing destination with easy to moderate bolted routes rated 5.6–5.10. The hike is approximately one hour's drive from Houston on Morice River Road and Morice Owen Road. Suitable for hiking and trail running. Dogs welcome. Located on the unceded traditional territory of the Wet'suwet'en people.
