Getting There

Directions

From Smithers: drive west on Hwy 16; ~2.5 km past the Suskwa turnoff, turn left onto Mudflat Creek Road. 2WD & high-clearance vehicles can drive ~1.5–2 km to small pullouts. Beyond that, the road becomes rough; 4WD can push further to reach the main trailhead.

Parking

When driving, watch for washed-out sections, tight turns, and limited turnarounds.

Safety & Preparation

The Blue Lakes Trail is a backcountry hike β€” conditions can change quickly due to weather, wildlife, or terrain. Hikers are responsible for their own safety. Always check forecasts before you go, carry proper gear, and let someone know your plans. Cell service is limited in many areas. Use this map and information as a general guide only. Trail conditions, signage, and access roads may vary seasonally. Xplore Smithers and its partners are not liable for any accidents, injuries, or losses that may occur while using this trail. Please hike responsibly, respect the land, and leave no trace.

Seasonal Conditions

🌱
