Tyhee Lake from Telegraph Street is a short, easy walk connecting the Village of Telkwa to Tyhee Lake Provincial Park via the historic Aldermere Trail system. The route follows Telegraph Street — named for the Collins Overland Telegraph line that passed through this area before 1866 — and traces the same trail corridor once used by early settlers and prospectors traveling between Aldermere (the original pioneer townsite on the bluff above Telkwa) and Tyhee Lake, where lake ice was harvested for use in cold cellars each summer.
The trail passes through the old Aldermere townsite area, where the first settlement in the Bulkley Valley was established before businesses relocated down to Telkwa when the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway arrived in 1907.
Open year-round. Dogs welcome on leash. Located on the unceded traditional territory of the Wet'suwet'en people.
