Getting There

Directions

From Hazelton or New Hazelton, drive west on Highway 16 for approximately 10km. Seeley Lake Provincial Park is located on the south side of the highway and is well-signed. Turn into the park and follow the road to the day-use/picnic area or campground. The short walking trail to the wildlife platform begins near the lakeshore.

Parking

A parking lot is located at the western entrance to the campground and at the day-use picnic area. Free day-use parking. The park has 20 campsites (open May to September with fees during that period), pit toilets, water, firewood, and a picnic area. Car-top boat launching is available for canoes and kayaks (electric motors only; no boat launch ramp). All services available in Hazelton, 10km to the east.

Safety & Preparation

Supervise children on the trail as it leads to a wildlife viewing platform at the lake's edge — stay behind barriers and keep children away from the water's edge. Dogs must be kept on leash at all times and are not permitted on the beach or in park buildings. Bears are present in the Hazelton area — carry bear spray even on this short trail. Canoeing and kayaking on the lake are popular, but only electric motors are permitted and there is no boat ramp — car-top launch only. In winter, ice skating on the lake is possible but always check ice thickness before venturing out. Swimming is popular in summer; there are no lifeguards on duty.
