Getting There

Directions

From Smithers town center, head south toward the Hudson Bay Mountain Recreation Area. Follow signs toward the BV Nordic Centre / Smithers Community Forest. Continue on the main access or logging roads toward the ski club facilities.

Parking

  • Main parking is available at or near the BV Nordic Centre lower lot
  • Additional parking may be found along designated recreation pullouts or upper lots depending on season
  • Parking is generally free but can be busy during ski events or peak winter weekends
  • Do not block logging roads, gates, or grooming equipment access routes

Safety & Preparation

  • This is a multi-use trail system: expect skiers, hikers, runners, and mountain bikers depending on season
  • In winter, trails are groomed but may become icy or fast—proper ski equipment is recommended
  • In summer, expect uneven terrain, roots, and muddy sections after rain
  • Wildlife such as bears and moose may be present—make noise and carry bear spray if hiking
  • Cell signal can be weak in forested areas—offline maps are strongly recommended
  • Stay on marked trails to avoid getting lost in the interconnected network
