As the name suggests, it offers relatively smooth terrain compared to other Bluff trails, with gentle turns, minimal obstacles, and a consistent riding surface. It is commonly used as a connector or warm-up trail and is ideal for riders looking for an easier, more relaxed ride within the network.

Getting There

Directions

To reach Smooth, travel from Smithers toward The Bluff recreation area via Highway 16 and follow access roads into the Hudson Bay Mountain trail network. From the main Bluff parking area, access the lower trail network and follow connecting routes into Smooth. It is often linked with easier trails such as Long Way, Boardwalk, or Bermline sections.

Parking

Parking is available at the main Bluff recreation area parking lot near the base of the trail system. Additional roadside pullouts may be available, but vehicles must not block gates, logging roads, or emergency access routes. Parking can be limited during busy riding days.

Safety & Preparation

Smooth is generally easier than most Bluff trails, but riders should still be cautious of loose dirt, small roots, and shared trail use. The trail can become slippery when wet, and visibility may be limited in some forested sections. Riders should maintain control and be aware of other trail users. Helmets are recommended.
