About This Trail

Long Way is a smooth and scenic cross-country style trail on The Bluff in Smithers, BC. It is commonly used as a longer connector route within the trail network, offering a more relaxed ride compared to the steep downhill trails in the area. The trail features flowing singletrack through forest terrain with gentle climbs, mild descents, and minimal technical obstacles, making it ideal for building endurance or linking multiple trails together.

Getting There

Directions

To reach Long Way, travel from Smithers toward The Bluff recreation area via Highway 16 and follow access roads into the Hudson Bay Mountain trail network. From the main Bluff parking area, access the lower trail network and follow connecting routes that lead into Long Way. It is commonly linked with trails such as Boardwalk, Auntie Flo, and other intermediate routes.

Parking

Parking is available at the main Bluff recreation area parking lot near the base of the trail system. Additional roadside pullouts may be available, but vehicles must not block gates, logging roads, or emergency access routes. Parking can be limited during peak riding times.

Safety & Preparation

Long Way is generally less technical than other Bluff trails, but it still includes natural features such as roots, loose dirt, and occasional tight corners. Riders should remain aware of other trail users and maintain control, especially on shared sections. The trail can become slippery when wet. Helmets are recommended.
