About This Trail

Meanstreak Lollipop is a challenging loop ride on The Bluff in Smithers, BC that combines a steady climb with a fast and technical descent via the Meanstreak trail. The route follows a “lollipop” shape, where riders climb up access trails and then complete a loop before returning along the same approach. The descent on Meanstreak features steep sections, roots, rocks, and quick transitions, making it a rewarding but demanding ride for experienced mountain bikers.

Getting There

Directions

To access the Meanstreak Lollipop loop, travel from Smithers toward The Bluff recreation area via Highway 16 and follow the access roads into the Hudson Bay Mountain trail system. Park at the main Bluff recreation area. From there, ride up Bluff Road or nearby climb trails to reach the upper network, where the loop connects into Meanstreak for the descent before returning toward the original access route.

Parking

Parking is available at the main Bluff recreation area parking lot at the base of the trail system. Additional roadside pullouts may be available, but vehicles must not block gates, logging roads, or emergency access routes. Parking can be limited during peak riding times, especially on weekends.

Safety & Preparation

The Meanstreak Lollipop loop includes both sustained climbing and a steep, technical descent. The downhill section features roots, rocks, tight corners, and fast segments that require strong control and endurance. Trail conditions can become slippery when wet, increasing difficulty significantly. Riders should be prepared for physical exertion on the climb and maintain caution on the descent. Helmets are strongly recommended, and full protective gear is advised. This route is not suitable for beginner riders.
