Getting There

Directions

To reach Deep Bluff, travel from Smithers toward The Bluff recreation area via Highway 16 and follow access roads into the Hudson Bay Mountain trail system. From the main Bluff parking area, ride up Bluff Road or connecting climb trails to access the upper Bluff network. Deep Bluff is accessed through upper trail junctions and often connects with other advanced trails such as Four Horsemen, Broken Axe, and Back in Black.

Parking

Parking is available at the main Bluff recreation area parking lot near the base of the trail system. Additional roadside pullouts may be available, but vehicles must not block gates, logging roads, or emergency access routes. Parking can be limited during peak riding times.

Safety & Preparation

Deep Bluff contains steep and technical terrain with roots, rocks, and tight corners that require strong bike handling skills. The trail can be slippery in wet conditions and may have limited visibility in forested sections. Riders should be prepared for sudden changes in terrain and maintain control on descents. Protective gear, including a helmet, is strongly recommended. This trail is not suitable for beginner riders.
