Getting There

Directions

To reach the trailhead, travel north from Smithers along Highway 16 and turn toward Hudson Bay Mountain Road leading to The Bluff recreation area. Continue along the access roads until you reach the main Bluff trail network, then ride up Bluff Road or connected climb trails to access the upper section where Apocalypse begins.

Parking

Parking is available at the main Bluff recreation area parking lot near the base access road. Additional small pullouts can also be found along Bluff Road, but visitors should avoid blocking gates or logging access routes. Parking can fill up quickly on weekends during the biking season.

Safety & Preparation

Apocalypse contains technical terrain including roots, loose rocks, and steep sections, especially in the lower half of the trail. Riders should be aware of multiple line choices at the bottom, including both easy and very difficult options. The trail can become slippery when wet, and visibility can be reduced due to forest cover and tight corners. Helmets are strongly recommended, and riders should stay within their skill level and watch for other trail users.
